Tom Thompson "Fine Art Restoration and Conservation"

TOM THOMPSON will present a demonstration of how to prepare the back or hanging parts of a painting to make it ready and acceptable for a show.  There will be a hand sheet with photos of the  'D' ring, coated wire etc.  He will discuss examination of old paintings and how to evaluate their age and value.  and will present a demonstration of the restoration of damaged old paintings starting with the repairing of a dent, a hole or a rip.  Finally he will walk through the steps of cleaning a painting and tightening the canvas.  And that will be it.  He will be bringing both in original art and video slides to show the before and after of the process.


Bold Expressions 2015 is open to all artists everywhere.  Fine art mediums welcome, 2D and 3D, must be original art, (no photography or video). September 10-October 24, 2015. Northern California Arts, Inc. sponsors this exhibit every year at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center.
