Diana Holt

DIANA HOLT, Artist I'm a native Californian, and have traveled extensively. I served in the Peace Corps in the 60's, and hoped to make the world a better place. Now that it is, (a little tongue in cheek here), I've mostly retired from active life and continue to work on making sense of my experiences through art. I studied for several years with Susan Sarbeck, learning to paint impressionistic oils with a palette knife. These paintings are mostly still lifes and landscapes. Recently I've begun studying with various artists who wield the brush. I'm also studying figurative work and am honing up my drawing skills. Also, I've learned to mix my own paint, whether it be guache, egg tempera, oil, pastels, or ?, and stretch my own canvases. There's so much to learn! When I'm working on a canvas, I like to alternate tight with loose and flowing. I pay attention to colors and like to create layers of paint, building up depth. Is anything ever really finished? Someday I'll have to study that! My work has shown as follows:

Sacramento Fine Arts Center (SFAC) Bold Expressions International Juried Art Show: October, 2005 October, 2006 October, 2007 (2 paintings, one of which earned an Honorable Mention award).

Colors Of Love Juried Art Show: January, 2006

Inner Views Juried Membership Show: February, 2006 (2 paintings) and May, 2007 (2 paintings)

Magnum Opus Non-Juried Show: August, 2007 Vacaville Art League Winter Blues, Non-Juried Show December/January, 2007.

Fairfield Visual Arts Association Annual Juried Art Show February/March, 2008

During 2007, I was also given the opportunity to chair a juried, International art show, Bold Expressions. This effort definitely challenged my organizational skills, but with the help of many dedicated volunteers, the outcome was successful.
