Special 3rd Saturday Opening June 16, 2018 - 5-8 pm

Every year, the American Watercolor Society, founded just after the Civil War in New York, selects watercolor paintings from among over 3500 paintings were submitted from 23 countries. 110 were selected & hung in the NY exhibit.  Once the selections are made and celebrated in New York, 40 of these exceptional paintings travel throughout the country so that the American public can enjoy the skill and artistic expressions of these world class fine painters.

We are fortunate that the Sacramento Fine Arts Center has again been selected as one of six venues for this outstanding traveling show.  It is scheduled from June 4 – 30 at the Center at 5330B Gibbons Drive in Carmichael, California.  This exhibition will provide the Sacramento Region with an opportunity to see the very best in watercolor painting in the country.

The opening of the exhibit will be celebrated by a Gala Celebration of the exhibit and of art in general!  On June 8, 2018, 5:30-8:30 pm, the Gala will feature music, food and wine in an artistic setting, with silent auction and fun for all.  A classy evening, to match the award-winning paintings, this event is a fund-raiser for the Sacramento Fine Arts Center with all proceeds going to support the Center’s art exhibits, art classes, and outreach to the community.  The Center is entirely self-supporting and relies on volunteers.  The mission of the Center is to encourage the creation and presentation of visual arts, to support the cultural life of the community, and to encourage all artists to fulfill their potential.
