"Abstract Watercolor", 22x30" by Jim Estey, one of the many art works donated
to 2016 Ars Gratia Artis.
People who buy art are often thought of as wealthy,
top drawer, in a class of their own, or at least very well-to-do.
As a result, many people who would like to buy art know there are
many venues that offer art, but also know those venues are way out
of their league.
Being one of those, you can imagine how excited I was to learn about
the Sacramento Fine Arts Center event, Ars Gratia Artis. It’s
an opportunity for anyone to purchase a painting they can love for
an extremely reasonable price, and support a worthy organization
at the same time. This event has been going on in Sacramento for
20 years and I learned about it five years ago. Every year since
then I get more and more enthusiastic about the possibilities it
offers, not only to art buyers in the community, but for the Sacramento
Fine Arts Center as a community.
What an opportunity to reach out to art lovers who may not have
found the Center yet, and are not aware of the wonderful resource
that it can be for buyers and artists as well.
Every year I wonder to myself why the studio is not packed with
people sitting on the edge of their seats as their tickets are pulled
out of the bowl and read. I imagine a room with standing room only
for the late comers who are eagerly hoping that their top picks
will still be available when their name is called.
An element of chance makes this truly an exciting event, and yet
satisfying as no other event can be, as every single ticket purchaser
walks away with a piece of art! So it truly is a win-win for everyone
involved. The artists get to support the Center that they love,
while encouraging brand new art collectors to buy their very first
piece of art.
Please help get the word out about this amazing event. Help us make
money for the Center by packing the room with enthusiastic people
who would love to support the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, because
they do events like this!
